Still time to signup to give a Lightning Talk at Camp

Posted by Michael Van Riper on October 31, 2008 @ 2:36 PM

In fact, we will be accepting Lightning Talks right up until these sessions start. We will do as many of these short 5 minute talks/demos as we have time for during each Lightning Talk session. Although you are not required to signup in advance, your doing so will help with the turnout for these sessions. To insure the largest possible audience for your talk/demo, please signup on the wiki in advance of camp. Also, the advance signups will be going first in the order that they are submitted until we run out of time. Any last minute additions will go last, time permitting. So, you can guarantee your spot to present during these sessions by signing up early.

The first session is on Saturday at 1:45pm. The wiki page for this session where you can signup is here:

The second session is on Sunday at 1:15pm. The wiki page for this session where you can signup is here:

If you have questions or need help adding your talk to either of these sessions on the wiki, you can contact me.

Thanks, Van

Silicon Valley Code Camp Schedule On Line! 110 Speakers!!!

Posted by Peter Kellner on October 22, 2008 @ 2:34 PM

Come checkout the Website!  We have 110 Sessions covering all kinds of very cool technologies.  Foothill College has again generously given us the use of many class rooms this weekend.  Sessions covering .Net, Java, Ruby, Python, Security, Web Services, Architecture  are just a few of the many topics covered.  If you click on the URL below, it will automatically log you into your account so that you can select classes you are planning on attending.  Please do this.  It will help us allocate and prepare classrooms better for everyone.  You will only be able to select one session for any give time slot.  You can view your selections on the Sessions Overview page. This is different than what you did previously in saying you were interested in a session, now you are saying you plan on attending. You can change these choices as often as you like.

Also, please update your profile at the next URL to confirm for us what days you plan on attending as well as any other pertinent information (such as whether you can make it to the Microsoft sponsored Barbeque Saturday Night).

We really could use more volunteers on our team to help out.  We need help with setup, teardown, as well as needing ambassadors to just help out during the days with all the sessions.  If you can spend some time helping us, go to the Wiki page ( http://www.siliconvalley-codecamp.com/Volunteer.aspx ) and add your name.  Your help will be appreciated by all.

That is it for now.  See you this weekend!

Announcing Silicon Valley Code Camp Group at Linked In

Posted by Peter Kellner on October 5, 2008 @ 2:32 PM

Have you ever met an impressive somebody at a developer event? Have you had a hard time finding him/her because you lost or did get the contact info? How much bandwidth do you have to go through the pile of business cards you end up with every time?

Stop doing it the old-fashion way and join the newly created LinkedIn Group "Silicon Valley Code Camp 2008". This group is meant to be a discussion hub for the community organizers, the speakers, and the attendees of the Silicon Valley Code Camp. It will help them find each other, get connected, and communicate. Don’t be a social outcast and join the community. Code Camp by Developer for Developers…
