SV Code Camp V7 October 6-7 2012

Posted by Peter Kellner on April 15, 2012 @ 11:54 AM

For the 7th time in 7 years, we have a Silicon Valley Code Camp! October 6th and 7th (Saturday and Sunday). Same place as before, Foothill College in Los Altos, CA. We told past speakers a couple weeks ago so as of now, 38 sessions, likely going on 200 again. Keeping this short, here are the bullets:

1) Register ASAP
2) Spread The Word! (tweet #svcc, post, internal web sites, etc.)
3) Know any great speakers not signed up? Let them know about svcc
4) Know any interested potential sponsors? We need them also

Registration page here:

http://www.siliconvalley-codecamp.com/register.aspx

We survive based on volunteers, if you can, make sure you mark your registration as such. Last year we had over 300 volunteers and it was hugely helpful and appreciated.

Final Code Camp Email Sent With Session Details and Instructions

Posted by Peter Kellner on October 7, 2011 @ 12:10 AM

With just two day until Code Camp, things are really coming together; at last count, we have 213 presentations and 3,035 registered attendees! Registration starts at 8:30 AM Saturday morning. Parking Lots #2, #3 and #5,#6 are paid for by our sponsors so you do not need to pay $2 in those lots. All other parking at Foothill requires a fee. Follow the arrows on the paths and sidewalks to the registration desk to pick-up your name badge and Saturday Lunch ticket.

A map of both the campus and the classrooms is located here http://www.siliconvalley-codecamp.com/Images/map-layout-update-2.jpg as well as on the back of your conference badge you pick up at registration. Also, please remember that the beltway around Foothill College is one-way so if you pass us, keep going around the circle and come back.

We will have printed copies of the schedule, but you can help us out by printing the following PDF files, which contain the session schedules for both Saturday & Sunday to bring with you.

(Track sessions and information can be found on the web at http://www.siliconvalley-codecamp.com/Tracks.aspx)

All the same information is available on the full web site at http://www.siliconvalley-codecamp.com and is posted on our RSS feed at http://blog.siliconvalley-codecamp.com/. Please remember to provide feedback after each session by visiting the Sessions Page on the web site and choosing Session Evaluation on the lower right of each session description (see the 3rd pdf above ending in extras).

As guest of Foothill for the 6th year in a row, the college has asked us to be particularly careful of the following two things. 1) There is no eating or drinking in any of the classrooms and 2) In the class rooms that have computers, it is OK to use those computers to browse the internet but not to either disconnect the cables or install any software either from the web or USB. Thanks for everyone’s cooperation on this.

See you Very Soon!

First of 5 Tracks Posted to the SVCC site, MOBILE!

Posted by Peter Kellner on September 6, 2011 @ 10:10 AM

We’ve posted our first of five tracks this year. Simply titled "Mobile" and curated by Falafel Software. This track includes one of the most popular sessions titled "The Current State of the Union in Mobile Development" from Lino Tadros, CEO of Falafel. Falafel is the maker of EventBoard, the mobile platform that drives our Silicon Valley Code Camp Mobile application on all three major smart phone platforms, IOS, Android and Windows 7. Another top session is from Lance Bullock on iPhone Development. Many of you may remember Lance’s packed session last year at code camp when we had issues with air conditioning. Over 200 people stayed (including Lance!).

If you have not been back for to the site for a while, please come back and check out our almost 180 sessions as well as the Mobile track. You can find the Mobile track at the url: http://siliconvalley-codecamp.com/Track2011-Mobile . You can quickly sort through all the sessions at code camp as well as click on column headers to sort by visiting the url: http://blog.siliconvalley-codecamp.com/2011/06/11/a-new-page-for-showing-interest-in-sessions-and-counts-up/

Silicon Valley Code Camp is just around the corner! Besides announcing more tracks over the next few days, we will be also putting up the volunteer page again. Keep an eye out for that so if you can help, you make sure you pick the time and job that you are best at.

See you all soon

SV Code Camp Volunteer Meeting, Tuesday August 16th in Los Altos At Foothill College

Posted by Peter Kellner on August 11, 2011 @ 7:44 PM

A big part of our 5 successful years of Silicon Valley Code Camps has been our enthusiastic volunteers. Last year, for example we had over 200 volunteers, most helping for just a couple hours on either Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Without these volunteers, well, all I can say is entropy meets chaos.

On Tuesday evening, August 16th at 6PM (in Los Altos, more information to follow) we will have a general meeting for all volunteers who want to come (attendance not required to volunteer at camp). The details (and signup) are at the following URL:

http://siliconvalley-codecamp.com/VolunteerMeeting.aspx

Looking forward to seeing you there! Just 67 days until camp.

Silicon Valley Code Camp is Less Than 100 Days away! 75 Sessions     Up, Register Now!

Our countdown to Silicon Valley Code Camp at Foothill College is moving forward! (less than 100 from now) We have 75 Sessions currently listed covering topics including .Net, Java, JavaScript, HTML5, Oracle, SharePoint, IPhone, Android, Scala, Ruby and many other hot technologies. Last year, we introduced tracks which went very well. Basically, tracks or curated by a track lead that brings together top presenters in a targeted technology. Each track has sessions presented in an order that makes sense throughout the day. Our first announced track for this year is HTML5 sponsored by Vertigo (and curated by Scott Stanfield). Keep an eye on this track to see the outstanding presentations). Other tracks will likely include Agile, Cloud, SharePoint and others.
